Ready to Fly
Savannah Africa offer ready to fly aircraft

Savannah Africa offer the above aircraft as ready to fly. The aircraft are
built to the highest standards in our dedicated assembly facility at Robertsvale
Airfield outside East London, South Africa.

The facility is managed by the owner John Waterson and Jeremy Step. All work
is overseen by AME David Hart who has 30 years experience in the aircraft business.

Manufacturing Organization Approval and Type Acceptance
ICP Srl have successfully completed the Type Approval process with CAA for both the Oribi VG and Savannah VG. South Africa is one of the many countries world-wide that has accepted the Type, others include the USA, Britain and Germany. Savannah Africa has initiated the process towards attaining Manufacturing Approval through CAA. Once approved, Savannah Africa will be in a position to supply Production Built Aircraft.

Currently aircraft are supplied as Amateur Built and require a proving flight period before the issuing of an authority to fly. Aircraft supplied by Savannah Africa will be test flown prior to sale. Proving flights may then be completed by the new owner provided he or she is in possession of a National Pilots Licence or PPL and has a suitable rating on the type. Type rating and training are offered in East London by Border Flight School.

Painted or strip
The aircraft are built from high grade 6061T6 aluminium which has a high corrosion resistance. Coastal flying and storage in dusty, moist environments will however ultimately result in surface degradation. We would recommend that aircraft exposed to this sort of environment be painted.

Painted aircraft
Savannah Africa offers two options for painting. For upcountry flying we recommend the “Build Prime & Paint” option. For coastal based aircraft we would strongly recommend that customers opt for the “Prime, Build and Paint” option. This will ensure that your aircraft is also primed internally and will prevent corrosion developing if you are flying in a highly corrosive coastal environment. Here all components are degreased, etched and primed with a strontium chromate primer prior to assembly. Savannah Africa will paint the aircraft exterior in two colours of the customers choice with a top quality Max Meyer 2K epoxy finish. It is recommended that the cabin interior be painted with a standard grey to match the supplied pre-cut upholstery from the factory in Italy. Third colours, decals and artwork would be in addition to the quoted price.
