Africa is a continent with vast open spaces and magnificent terrain. Having an aircraft that can really get you around quickly and reliably and land where many other aircraft cannot is what you need to appreciate this beautiful country. The Savannah and Oribi aircraft stand out as reliable short field performance aircraft that are robust and extremely safe.

The Savannah and Oribi are built from high grade 6061T6 aluminium, 4130N chrome moly and AN hardware They feature STOL wing characteristics. Handling is extremely docile making the aircraft superbly suited for training and use as a surveillance platform. With a selection of very reliable engines, you can customise your aircraft to suite your needs and your pocket.

Savannah Africa are the agents for these Italian manufactured aircraft in Southern Africa. The advanced build kit is imported into South Africa to supply as a kit for the home builder or to be assembled in our factory outside East London ready for delivery to the customer as “ready to fly” (RTF). We are currently on build 18 and 19 and have sold a total of 40 units. Our aircraft are also flying in Namibia, Zimbabwe and the DRC. We pride ourselves on our workmanship and strive to deliver the best quality and service on the market.

The factory is supported by Border Flight School (ATO 0071) who provide National Pilots
Licence training, and conversions.

The Savannah and Oribi have similar airframes. The Savannah VG uses the bigger engine options and full instrumentation and the Oribi VG the smaller engines and minimal instrumentation. Some of the bells and whistles have been left off the Oribi to make it a very affordable option.

Considering Building One?

The Savannah and Oribi are easy planes to build, and take no more than 400 hours for a first time builder. The kit is supplied with all parts predrilled, formed or welded. The wiring harness is complete. The kit even includes the rivets, some clecos and pneumatic rivet gun. The secret in the build speed is the high precision cutting and drilling of the CNC machines at the Italian factory ICP, which makes the builder’s work fast and enjoyable.
